ENGLISH SCRIPT FONTS

English script fonts are, essentially, fonts that resemble or are based on handwriting. Whether they are the handwriting of real people or not is not quite clear. The point, however, is that when they are displayed onscreen or printed out on paper, these words and letters truly look as if they have been written down by a person rather than typed into a computer. Most English script fonts look like cursive handwriting – mainly because it is the easiest way to differentiate them from non-script fonts, which have individualized letters designed specifically for their readability. Lately, however, there have been some English script fonts that were designed to look like printed handwriting, which somehow find the balance being readable and intimate. Evidently, the point of most English script fonts would be the sense of intimacy that they convey: because they are “handwritten” they are seen as “friendlier” and more accessible. English script fonts such as the Jane Austen, can be even more intimate: there is a certain romantic feel to texts that are conveyed using the handwriting of some of the more popular English writers and artists. English script fonts are best used for invitations, or, if one happens to be the type, for books in which one wants to stylistically convey an intimate letter between two people.
